Heavy riffs mixed with angelic harmonies. II can put you in a coma and then leave you headbanging for ever for ever for ever...
Favorite track: WAU.

Incredible release. Streaming tracks or even the entire EP is great, but this sounds killer on vinyl and hearing it really helped me realize how good the track progression is. Definitely cop on vinyl if you have access to a turntable.

"FOR EVER FOR EVER FOR EVER FOR EVER FOR EVER FOR EVER" is the second EP from Sludgegaze band ANOTHER HEAVEN, in which the band takes their history of mixing hazy post-punk and dreamy shoegaze with the heavy sounds of doom and sludge (as both this band and Hollow Boys) and weaponizes it into something heavier, darker and more efficient. Now operating as a three-piece band (comprised of Ali Jaafar, Cole Benson and Aaron Lemay) and with everyone sharing vocal and songwriting duties, the band put all of their energy into creating a crushingly heavy yet intensely melodic collection of songs that casts a jaundiced eye on the Modern American Wasteland.
Where their debut, "You Are Loved," was a blankly political post-election meltdown, "FOR EVER, etc." tackles the same emotions of hopelessness, dread, existential horror and apathy from a more personal perspective - one that is hugely influenced by a lifetime of playing music and working in dying industries. More explicitly, it's an album about SURVIVAL. "WAU" and "DIGAMMA" explore blood feuds started by abusive ex-friends, while "IE" attempts to find enlightenment and meaning in the thankless, never-ending grind (promising "I'll never be that way again" - even if you're not sure). "KA" desperately tries to reason its way out of party-fatigue from the backseat of a speeding car while, on the opposite end of the spectrum, "SEBAA" chronicles a story of survival in a post-capitalist apocalyptic wasteland heavily inspired by Tarkovsky's Stalker. The simplest and most harrowing song is "AHAD," which explores the sleepy and confused hopefulness that follows the survival of a suicide attempt - an uncertain love letter to SURVIVAL and, maybe, life.
Featuring a limited instrumental palette combined with richly layered vocal arrangements (which not only feature lead vocal contributions from all band members but also some of Minneapolis' best musicians in MONICA LAPLANTE, EMILY LAZEAR and MONICA COLESLAW) "FOR EVER, etc." is a bracing, directly human record that attempts to sing its way out of utter fucking misery. Musically, it transitions from insanely heavy pummeling to cloudy atmospherics on a dime, pushing the hazy cloudbusting of Shoegaze as far into the realm of Heavy music as possible and, in the process, creating some ungodly chimera of the two. Our only hope is that it's ugly enough to move you and beautiful enough to make you imagine FOR EVER FOR EVER FOR EVER FOR EVER FOR EVER FOR EVER.
